The Zelda series is no stranger to a little bit of crossover action. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild alone features an entire smattering of elements from many different entries. However, notorious The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker modder BigSharkZ decided to take this practice to a completely different level for April Fool’s Day this year.

The trailer for the project, dubbed The Legend of Zelda: Winds of Time, features a complete re-imagining of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the engine of The Wind Waker. Over the course of the short three-minute teaser, we’re treated to shots of Kokiri Forest, Hyrule Field, Gerudo Valley, and Lon Lon Ranch, all rendered in cel-shading. On top of it all, the trailer even shows off elements of Wind Waker‘s gameplay incorporated into the maps of Ocarina of Time. It’s enough to make any fan of both games smile with joy.

This fantastic trailer was dropped April 1st as part of the festivities of our prank-filled welcoming of spring and was the result of two weeks of work with barely any sleep, according to BSZ. The entire trailer comes complete with remade models of Link, Saria, Malon, and a slew of the game’s enemies, many of which one might recognize from BSZ’s other project, Dark Linka & The King’s Revenge, which we covered a couple months ago. Fortunately for those ready for a new adventure, despite the project being a very elaborate April Fool’s joke, BSZ has actually stated he intends to release a full version as a mod pack at some point in the future.

You can check out the Winds of Time trailer above; and if you’re hankering for some playable content from BSZ, be sure to try out his fully completed fan game, Dark Linka and the King’s Revenge and check out his GameBanana page for more mods!

What do you think of BSZ’s elaborate trailer? Are you excited to have a chance to play through it? What other Zelda games would you like to see mashed together? Let us know in the comments!
