It has come and gone, Nintendo’s E3 conference has just ended and we have nothing new to report on the status of Zelda Wii U. Has Nintendo forgotten about our green-clad hero? Certainly not! Hyrule is well represented in NintendoLand in the form of BattleQuest (more on that in just a bit!). But there was no mention of an actual Wii U Zelda title, nor a 3DS Zelda title.

So why was there no mention of the two Zelda titles being worked on right now? Make the jump to find out why we think that may be the case.

1. Skyward Sword was released only six months ago.

Nintendo hasn’t been known to churn out all-new experiences one after the other too often; aside from Majora’s Mask or the Oracle duo, Nintendo has always been the sort of company that focuses on quality over quantity, and it has served them well. Short of a new game utilizing the Skyward Sword engine or a Majora’s Mask remake, we may have a long-ways to go until the next big reveal.

2. Nintendo isn’t finished with the big reveals.

Remember the surprise reveal of Ocarina of Time 3D by Nintendo in 2010? The E3 conference had finished and everybody thought we had gotten all we were going to get in terms of Zelda news, then Nintendo comes out and reveals Ocarina of Time 3D , much to the jubilation of the industry and the fan-base. Nintendo will always have surprises up its sleeves, and we would be fools to think otherwise.

3. It’s all about the 3DS.

Not many people may be aware (I know I certainly wasn’t) but Nintendo is planning a separate event for tomorrow evening detailing the upcoming 3DS lineup. Though we may have gotten nothing from the Big N regarding Zelda at their Tuesday Press Conference, there is still the possibility of a reveal at their upcoming 3DS event. Besides, the last we saw of Zelda for the 3DS was the Ocarina of Time remake in 2011 and the Link’s Awakening eShop release; if Nintendo is on the verge of giving us more Zelda, it will likely be for the 3DS.

So, what do you think: Should the fan-base be worried about the lack of Zelda at the Press Conference? Or Should we be looking to the (near) future in hope and expectation? Chime in on the comments below.
