Nintendo Uk: GameCube Controller Adapter Only Usable for Smash 4

Nintendo UK so giveth, and so they taketh away. Well, they were really giving something they shouldn’t have… false information. There is generally no truer word than that which comes straight from Nintendo. That belief is what lead to us sharing what we thought was great news – GameCube controllers being basically compatible with everything on the Wii U. It sounded too good to be true and apparently it was. Nintendo UK delivered a message to Eurogamer to clear up their own goof. Still, fans reaction to the initial hope may give Nintendo reason to try and support it in the future.

“The GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U is compatible with Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U specifically – it is not compatible with any other Wii U software. The adapter is also not compatible with Wii and we apologise for any confusion.”
