As Super Mario Bros.‘ 35th Anniversary year draws to a close, Nintendo is sprinkling in some final commemorative releases. In the latest case: a bright red, Mario-themed set of Switch hardware. We’ve seen a small stream of themed Switches in the last couple of years. Notably the elusive Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the Let’s Go Pokemon editions. Most themed bundles, however, contain just a few exclusively-colored bits while most components in the box remain stock.

This Mario Red & Blue Edition goes all the way. Every part has been touched up to create the package, including the rails for the Joy-Con wrist straps. To sweeten the deal (and intensify the hype train), the system is bundled with an exclusive carrying case. While the case’s color isn’t subtle, it rocks some haute couture flair with a grid of little Mario overalls and gloves. Plus, if you can get your hands on the set, it is priced at the same $299 USD that Switches have always been.

The Mario Red & Blue Edition will release on February 12 along with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. While there is a buy-now listing on Nintendo’s official website, it only refers to “select retailers.” Based on past limited releases, those will most likely be GameStop, Best Buy, and Target. However, links to those stores are not yet live on the page.

As Super Mario Bros.‘ anniversary winds down, The Legend of Zelda‘s 35th Anniversary should get underway. Here at Zelda Dungeon, we’re already excited to see what might be in store!

Are you interested in the Mario-themed Switch or in playing Super Mario 3D world + Bowser’s Fury? Do you think we’ll get a similar bundle for Zelda‘s 35th Anniversary? Give us your take in the comments!
