Japanese entertainment and gaming news website Famitsu recently reported that the Nintendo Switch family has surpassed 25 million sales in Japan, five years since its release date in March 2017. The Nintendo Switch is the best-selling console, with 18,379,851 units sold. Comparatively, the Switch Lite has sold 4,754,257 units, and the newest in the family, Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, has sold 1,876,296 units. Like the sales in the United States, it is expected that these numbers will continue to rise due to upcoming releases such as Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Bayonetta 3.

Additionally, Famitsu revealed the top five Nintendo Switch games in Japan in terms of sales. Twitter user Nibel states:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold 7,621,929 units, making it the best-selling game in Japan since its launch. It is strange to see that Breath of the Wild did not make the list. However, that may change once Breath of the Wild 2 is released in 2023.
