In February 2023, the Zelda community was baffled when a Discord user leaked images of the Tears of the Kingdom art book about three months before its official release alongside the Collector’s Edition of the game. No one knows how the book got into this person’s hands. The original Reddit post sharing a .pdf file containing pictures of the art book was swiftly deleted, but not before the images were already being shared to all corners of the internet. Fortunately, most fans were able to avoid spoilers if they didn’t go searching for these leaked images themselves. But unfortunately for the leaker, they are now being tracked down by Nintendo.

As first reported on TorrentFreak, Nintendo of America attorneys filed for subpoena on April 4th in California to find the personal information of the Discord user who leaked the book so they can take legal action against them.

Nintendo has been hard at work at preventing any spoilers or leaks regarding Tears of the Kingdom throughout development. Even now, just a few weeks away from release, we still haven’t seen much footage of the game. So this leaked art book must have been a frustratingly tough hit for Nintendo. However, this much-anticipated game will still make its way to release on May 12th as planned. Let’s just hope no more surprises come about in the next thirty days.

What are your thoughts on Nintendo taking legal action against this leaker? Let us know in the comments!
