Nintendo Power: Top 25 GameCube Games

In Nintendo Power’s November issue, they celebrated the GameCube’s tenth anniversary by creating a list of the console’s top 25 games. All three Legend of Zelda games released for the GameCube made the list. The Wind Waker came in second, Twilight Princess came in third, and Four Swords Adventure came in twenty-second. It’s hard to believe that the Gamecube came out ten years ago, especially when many of the games on the list are still talked about and played today. It helps that the Wii provides backwards compatibility so even if fans don’t own a Gamecube, they can still play the games. Along with all the Zelda titles, many other great games made the list. Make sure to check out all 25 after the jump.

1. Resident Evil 4
2. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
3. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
4. Super Smash Bros. Melee
5. Metroid Prime
6. SoulCalibur II
7. Super Mario Sunshine
8. Pikmin
9. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
10. Resident Evil
11. Viewtiful Joe
12. Beyond Good & Evil
13. Mario Kart Double Dash
14. Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
15. Luigiā€™s Mansion
16. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
17. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
18. Skies of Arcadia Legends
19. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
20. Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
21. Tales of Symphonia
22. The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure
23. F-Zero GX
24. Animal Crossing
25. Ikaruga

To be honest, I haven’t played many of these games. I didn’t own a GameCube or a Wii until quite recently so a lot of these games are still new to me. Out of the ones I have played or at least have seen people play, I would definitely say they belong on this list. I’m not surprised that all of the Zelda titles for GameCube made the list. They were all great games in their own right and all deserve to be remembered as such. What I am surprised about is how far down Luigi’s Mansion is. I’ve always heard that was a really great game so naturally, I expected it to be higher. Aside from the Zelda games, my favorite game to make the list is Mario Kart Double Dash. I always had fun playing that game and Baby Park is still one of the greatest tracks in the series. Overall, I think Nintendo Power chose awesome games to fill out their list.

What do you guys think? Do you agree with this list? Should the order be changed? Are you happy that all the GameCube Zelda titles made the list? What is your favorite game here? What games should have made the list that didn’t? Tell us in the comments!
