The Game Awards 2018 will air tonight at 5:30 PM PST, as the industry comes together to honor the best and brightest games of the past year. But as much as we’re excited to see great games get recognized for their achievements, we’re equally looking forward to the huge announcements set for tonight’s event. Host Geoff Keighley has already revealed that more than ten new games will be unveiled at the show, and it seems our favorite company has something up its sleeves. Nintendo recently took to Twitter to encourage fans to tune into The Game Awards tonight, perhaps hinting at some exciting reveals during for the event.
Nintendo has made a tradition out of making big announcements during The Game Awards. While nothing is confirmed, some fans have speculated that Nintendo will show off the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 or a Metroid Prime Collection for the Switch. Of course, there is also the distinct possibility that the company could debut a new Legend of Zelda project as well. The possibilities are limitless, so we’ll just have to watch The Game Awards to find out.
The Game Awards and Zelda have had a storied relationship for the past several years. Last year, Nintendo and Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma surprised us all by releasing Breath of the Wild‘s second DLC pack, The Champions’ Ballad, during the event. In 2016, the company released a flashy new trailer for the then-upcoming Breath of the Wild. And in 2014, Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto offered some of the first glimpses of gameplay for the game then known only as Zelda U. (Remember when that game was supposed to release in 2015?)
The Game Awards will take place tonight at 5:30 PM PST.
