The gaming world has been buzzing about the recent expansions to the Nintendo Switch brand, as rumors of new and improved hardware are finally coming to fruition. Nintendo finally announced the portable-only Switch Lite console last week, and recent reports indicate several iterative improvements to the current Switch model. With the Switch proving to be a mammoth success, it should come as no surprise that Nintendo will continue to support the console and the brand.

As reported by Dutch tech site LetsGoDigital, Nintendo recently filed an application with the Israel Patent Office for a trademark on the name “Nintendo Switch Do”. The patent documentation does not reveal very much about the trademark, stating only that the classification under which the patent was filed refers to “games, portable games with LCD screen, handheld games, entertainment services, (downloadable) electronic game programs.” The application was approved and published on July 16th.

While this trademark may indicate a new feature for the Switch, speculation online has pointed to the more likely case that it relates to the newly opened Nintendo store in Tel Aviv, Israel, Nintendo’s second retail space after Nintendo New York. Like its New York predecessor, the Tel Aviv location may offer customers special Switch-related experiences and events, which may utilize the “Nintendo Switch Do” name.

We’ll just have to wait and see what plans Nintendo has for this mysterious trademark.
