Nintendo has announced that paid Nintendo Switch Online members can now purchase a pair of Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers and redeem each voucher for one digital game each in their voucher catalog, allowing Nintendo Switch Online members to save on eligible games.

Each pair of digital vouchers is currently available for $99.98 USD, though a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for purchase. Once bought, Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are redeemable for a full year (12 months from date of purchase), and they don’t have to be used all at once. In fact, apparently you can save up to eight active vouchers in your Nintendo Switch Online account at a time. Members can still earn My Nintendo Gold Points worth 5% of their total paid amount, and vouchers can also be used to pre-order upcoming releases (if they’re listed in the voucher catalog). With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom slated to release this spring, I know my eyebrows are certainly raised.

Note: Nintendo of Canada’s promotional email about these vouchers listed their pricing in US dollars by mistake. The correct Canadian price for a pair of vouchers is CAD $132.99.

As of time of writing, there are currently 71 games you can purchase using Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers. Zelda titles on the list include:

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

According to the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher store listing, new games, including upcoming releases, are regularly added to the catalog. Fan reactions to Nintendo’s announcement do seem to indicate that the amount of savings on digital games through these vouchers depends on your location and whether you’re comparing physical edition vs. digital edition prices.

What do you think of Nintendo’s new Switch Online Game Voucher system? Would purchasing a pair of vouchers (or more) result in savings for you? Do you think The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be added to the voucher catalog? Let us know down below in the comments!
