Are you a Zelda fan who enjoys the way Nintendo makes your favourite titles or do you wish that a second or third party developer like Capcom would once again be given the chance to create a new adventure for Link? Second party developer Retro Studios is probably in the most favor to create a new Zelda title yet, in an interview with Nintendo Life, Next Level Games-the masterminds behind Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon-have spoken about their excitement to work on Nintendo’s classic IPs and would love to be given the opportunity to work on a new Zelda title.

Next Level Games was asked about working on Nintendo IPs and which IP they would choose to work on if given the opportunity to decide. Here’s the quote below:

“Haha, it kind of feels like that! I think we’ve also been tagged in some circles as the ones who can revive old Nintendo franchises. I think we’ve solidified our studio’s ability to collaborate with Nintendo to create high quality games. I am certainly excited to see what IPs we get to work on next!”

“Really, we are grateful to work on any Nintendo IP but if there are any wish-granting entities listening out there, we would love a chance to work on a Zelda or Mario game!”

Just as Retro Studios was able to do with the Donkey Kong Country series, Next Level Games has equaled that stride with Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. Rebooting the Luigi’s Mansion series to a newer generation of gamers would certainly have proved a challenge yet the results have been outstanding. I believe Next Level Games could be the right choice to work on a Zelda title considering they took inspiration from the series for the Toad missions in Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. If I was to pick a second or third party developer to produce a new Zelda title it would have to be a choice out of Retro Studios or Next Level Games.

What do you think about Next Level Games’ interest in working on a Zelda title? Do you think it would be a good change for Nintendo to give another studio the chance to work on Zelda? Do you like the third party Zelda titles which were developed in the past?
