Update: A listing on the Japanese eShop confirmed new characters, weapons, scenarios, and more as part of the updates.

Although the game just released in Japan, there’s already been word as to what the future of

Hyrule Warriors will involve. In order to commemorate the official release of the game, Koei Tecmo released a statement in Twitter indicating that they will continue to support the game with bug fixes, updates, and more. The translation of the official statement is as follows:

“New information to commemorate the release. Hyrule Warriors is a “festive Zelda title” that was made with much effort. In order to have you folks enjoy it for longer, we’re currently planning long-term updates and a large-scale mode expansion. We’ve received a few bug reports, so we’ll be working on that as well.” “For these reasons, the development staff will be working in the midst of Obon (Japanese holiday). Keep it a secret from everyone!”

This is is not surprising for a

Warriors game, but it does mark a first for Zelda (Sonic Lost World DLC notwithstanding). I’m certainly looking forward to see what these updates entail. New modes? Improvements on old? A character who was cheated out of the spotlight?
