Here is a written summary of the second level of GameXplain’s six hour marathon stream of Hyrule Warriors!

In the next level, which is called Eldin Volcano, GameXplain decides to use Impa instead of Link since the game recommended doing so. Once the player starts the stage [0:44], a recap of the previous level is given just in case the player returned to the game after a longer period of time.

At the menu before the second level begins [2:44], there is a small list of not only which allies will join you on the level, but where they will be on the map. It should be noted that although he chose to play as Impa, Link will still be there fighting alongside her; he is controlled by the CPU.

Impa’s fighting style definitely does not disappoint [4:22] as she slashes through enemies with amazing combos. One of her moves creates a water bubble which then explodes with the enemies inside [5:37]. One of her special attacks [6:29] that uses up about half of the special bar has a short cutscene where she slashes her enemies horizontally and deals a large sum of damage. It’s also noted by the commentator that pressing the back button on the D-pad allows Impa to strike enemies that are behind her while she performs her combos.

One of the enemies in the area happens to be Poe [8:38], which is easily defeated after a few hits. In another Poe battle [10:03], it should also be noted that another one of Impa’s attacks features a water bubble that is kept on the enemy’s head, drowning them for a short period. After slashing through some pots, the player could find a power up bomb [10:18] which does a large amount of damage over a wide distance. Also, she has a finishing move [11:14] that slashes through the ground beneath her enemies to allow a surge of water to hit them for a high amount of damage.

Now, Bombchus are introduced into the game [13:30] as the player is called by the fairy to go to a different part of the map. The goal is to defeat the main enemies of each area (such as Lizalfos or commanders) so that the Bombchu can navigate the crowds safely.

Just like in the previous level, the fairy highlights where the player can find a Gold Skulltula on the map [15:48]. The commentator gets the Skulltula and continues attacking the enemies in the Bombchu’s way. Once successful, the Bombchu goes to the crystal [17:28] and explodes it, allowing for the team to go to another part of the map.

After heading in that direction, a cutscene begins [18:23] with the team being cornered as a Poe and its minions surround them. Suddenly, the ever so familiar theme of Sheik’s plays [18:40] and there Sheik is on a nearby cliff playing the song on the Goddess Harp. Once noticed, she stops playing and jumps down to aid the battle. This scene debuts Sheik’s attacks using the harp [18:47].

After that, it is noticed that another goal of this level is to continue to capture certain areas of the map which are shown by crystals [21:10] that change color depending on which team has the area. Once it has turned blue, then that means that the area is fully claimed by the player, but enemies can still come afterwards and recapture the area. It was also clarified that there’s apparently a 60 minute time limit per level [22:30], which can easily become a challenge as each level features a large amount of backtracking and traveling.

The Eldin Volcano also contains various crystal areas [23:10], and the player must travel through one to get to the next Bombchu. This time, the player merely has to kill a percentage of enemies and the commander in order to get the Bombchu going. But after killing the commander [24:45], a chest appears which contains a crystal. After defeating another commander [26:46], another smaller chest appears that contains a large sum of rupees.

The commentator comes across a Poe and a commander [28:08] simultaneously and uses Impa’s magic attack. It is another strength bonus, but instead of the gold coloring that Link had, it has Impa in a light blue. In this moment he also features Impa’s vertical slash attack.

After exiting the area, a cutscene begins [30:55] with Wizzro gathering a ring as he awakens. Then, the music changes to a more hectic song. When the Bombchu explodes [32:02], it is noticed that it takes multiple Bombchus to explode the crystal for the next location.

Then the commentator comes across Wizzro [32:42], and he easily defeats him. Just like Valga, he retreats and will likely be seen in another level.

The ending cutscene for the level [36:00] happens, and it seems to feature the character that was chosen for the level (Impa in this case). At the menu after the level, it appears that upgrading from the first skill tree is for obtaining new combos. By upgrading from the bottom skill tree, the characters can receive the Goron’s Bracelet, which will allow players to pick up bombs from Bomb Flowers.

That was a lot of information, but we’re still only two levels into the game! Stay tuned to Zelda Informer for more coverage!
