With Halloween just around the corner, there are a wide variety of places to go for horror-themed thrills. From watching monster movies, to carving Jack-o-Lanterns, to of course playing scary games like Slender or Silent Hill, there’s no shortage of scares. Aside from a few places in the Zelda universe, the series is not one that comes straight to mind as horrific or scary. However, sometimes there are places that fit the bill perfectly.

It’s not often we get a Zelda Theory video that begins with the “viewer discretion is advised” tag, but this one earns it. This video from MaskedNintendoBandit opens with a narrative tale that is so chilling and creepy that it belongs on the Creepypasta Reddit page. From there, it dives into his theory about the Wizzrobe enemies and a small ruins found in Breath of the Wild called the Shadow Hamlet. The meat of this video is found here, and it weaves an interesting set of facts and logic together to create the image of the Wizzrobe that’s portrayed in the opening.

I love horror stories in movies, games, and just about every other piece of media. So, when I watched this and heard that vivid opening, it stuck with me. As the creator dives into the evidence about the Wizzrobes being independent beings that choose to follow Ganon(dorf) throughout the series, it feels more and more probable that the story at the beginning could have happened.

What about you? Did you think the story at the beginning was as creepy as I did? What about the theory explaining the Wizrobes and the hamlet? Tell us what you think in the comments below or over in our Discord!
