We saw a lot of the Link’s Awakening remake earlier this month, thanks largely to Nintendo’s E3 offering. In addition to a new trailer revealing the game’s September 20th release date, the event also gave attendees (including the Zelda Dungeon team) the opportunity to play through Link’s Awakening‘s first 15 minutes. Our own demo ended right after we defeated the game’s first boss, but it seems other attendees were using their time in the game to seek out more obscure areas.

The fine folks at GameXplain recently uploaded footage from their Link’s Awakening E3 demo, in which the player used Roc’s Feather to explore parts of Koholint Island that lie beyond the game’s opening areas. This footage provides us with our first looks at Mr. Wright’s house — an important location for the game’s trading sequence — the entrance to Moblin’s Keep, and Tal Tal Heights.

However, the most significant find comes in the form of gravedigger Dampé’s Shack. The location is situated where the Camera Shop stood in Link’s Awakening DX, strongly implying that the photography side quest is not present in this remake. Rather, Dampé’s Shack will be home to the brand new Chamber Dungeon, where players can create their own custom dungeons. Chamber Dungeon sounds like it will be a lot of fun, but it’s a shame this new feature was included at the expense of the Camera Shop.

Link’s Awakening will release for Nintendo Switch on September 20th.

Did you notice anything else in this footage? Are you disappointed about the lack of photography in Link’s Awakening? Let us know in the comments!
