New Japanese Trailer for Link’s Awakening Gives Lyrics to “Ballad of the Wind Fish”

While the soundtrack of Link’s Awakening is jam packed with memorable tunes, “Ballad of the Wind Fish” is certainly the most iconic. The melody that Marin sings throughout Link’s adventure is crucial to waking the Wind Fish and ultimately freeing our hero from Koholint Island. It’s obvious why such an important song has remained so popular with fans.
Nintendo Japan recognized the importance of “Ballad of the Wind Fish” when putting together the latest trailer for Link’s Awakening for Nintendo Switch. This emotional trailer strings together some of the more memorable moments from the game, such as when Link and Marin sit together on Toronbo Shores or when Marin performs her song for the denizens of Animal Village.
The sequences are accompanied by a seemingly new arrangement of “Ballad of the Wind Fish”, complete with Japanese lyrics. Though many fan musicians have added their own lyrics to the song, this is, as far as we know, the first official version of the song with lyrics. The vocal performance is absolutely gorgeous; I certainly got chills watching the video for the first time.
This trailer was released alongside another, more action-oriented trailer, which is very similar to the Link’s Awakening segment of yesterday’s Nintendo Direct. You can check out that trailer below.
Link’s Awakening will release for Nintendo Switch on September 20th.
