Ironic, isn’t it—we started this week with a pair of Daily Debates discussing glitches and bugs in Zelda games, and now a new one has been discovered in the depths of Ocarina of Time‘s Spirit Temple. Speedrunner Tokyoboi808 was attempting a run of the game while blindfolded, livestreaming the whole time, and by complete accident he happened to perform a set of actions that allowed him to glitch through the ceiling and enter a room above his current location. Obviously, there shouldn’t be any rooms there, but the fascinating thing about his discovery (you know, aside from it being an accident, being done while both drunk and blindfolded, and being done while streaming live) is that there are numerous invisible structures there that he proceeds to interact with—again, still unable to see anything, so he ends up pretty confused before finally resetting towards the end.

At first glance, this looks like it’s a pretty pointless glitch, but don’t count out the Speedrunning community—they are masters of taking seemingly useless details and exploiting them to somehow shave seconds, if not entire minutes, off a run. Give them a few days to explore this glitch, and who knows? They might even find a path through the invisible structures that will let them skip half the dungeon.

Until then, enjoy the video of the glitch’s discovery above!
