Irish composer and conductor Eimear Noone and the Dublin International Game Music Festival are collaborating on a new Zelda fan album titled Songs of Zelda: A Link to the Celts. This album will feature various Zelda tunes performed by the DIT Irish Traditional Music Ensemble, mixing the themes we all love with traditional Celtic sounds. If this collaboration has you the least bit excited, you can now back its Kickstarter and help this amazing project become a reality.

A self-asserted Zelda fan, Elimear Noone is a conductor and composer who has toured extensively with The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses in addition to working on several other video game projects. I actually watched her conduct The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert in 2011, where her love for Zelda shown through the entire performance.

In April, Noone and several others performed at the Dublin International Game Music Festival (iDIG), bringing an Irish flavor to our favorite video game songs. The DIT Irish Traditional Music Ensemble — featuring the talents of several musicians, singers, and dancers — most notably performed songs from The Legend of Zelda. This performance inspired Noone and iDIG to launch a project for the ensemble to record classic Zelda pieces in a traditional Irish style. Songs of Zelda: A Link to the Celts is title of this project, aiming to bring a Celtic sound to Koji Kondo’s works.

The Kickstarter launched on June 15th, with a pledge goal of $30,000 USD. If funded, the musicians will record the album this fall with the album releasing by iDIG 2016 (April 29th, 2016). If you watch the campaign video above, you can understand the magical potential this project has and the excitement many people have towards making this project a success.

In terms of backer rewards, $12 USD will earn you a digital copy of the album when released and $25 will get you a physical copy. Other rewards include signed copies of the album, a Baldurs’s Gate fan album, and a Warcraft fan album. Diehard fans who pledge about $1,000 USD also have a chance to visit the studio and watch the recording process. There are many great rewards in the Kickstarter, but just getting this project funded should be incentive enough.

After only a few days, the Kickstarter has already raised over $23,000 USD toward its $30,000 USD goal. The campaign still has about 24 days to reach this goal, so offer your support right here if you want to see this project succeed. You can also visit iDIG’s website, Twitter, and Facebook for more information.
