Henry Gilbert from GamesRadar got a hands on look at Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’s eight player mode. According to Henry, the mode is just as completely insane as it looks at first glance, but he think’s that’s a good thing. What usually seemed to happen with eight simultaneous smashers was that the players would split up into small groups to battle in different parts of the stage and then eventually everyone converges in the middle for a chaotic free-for-all fight.
Henry feels like adding more players just cranks up the naturally crazy style of the Super Smash Bros. series, but eight players may be too much to play with regularly. Six players on the other hand, that seems to be the “sweet spot” between insane action and actually being able to see your character.
Where do you stand on allowing more than four players to play at once? Is eight great, or do you think there should be no more than four? Let us know in the comments!
