New Echoes of Wisdom Update Makes Choosing Your Favorite Echoes Much, Much Easier
Posted on June 04 2025 by Evan Hahn

Echoes of Wisdom received a patch Tuesday to improve one of its most controversial elements: the echoes menu. Players can now mark echoes as “favorites,” then later filter to see only those echoes. This update coincides with tomorrow’s launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, but the current Switch can also enjoy this new feature.
Players who have learned at least 30 echoes will see a new message when launching the game, telling them that they can “mark [their] favorite echoes or those you’d like to access quickly.” Players can select favorites from the Notebook screen of the pause menu or from the fast-access menu. Then, in the latter menu, one can press ZR to filter down to only see one’s favorites.
In addition, a few other tweaks were made, many of which only affect the new console. Here are the full release notes from Nintendo’s website, edited for clarity:
The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:
General
- Added a feature to display only favorited echoes in the list of echoes after 30 or more echoes have been learned.
- Visuals: Optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality.
- HDR (High Dynamic Range) support for improved image contrast and brightness. Note: HDR-compatible display required when playing in TV mode.
- Fixed various issues to create a smoother gaming experience.

As you can see, most of these are performance improvements exclusive to the Switch 2, but it’s nice that current-generation Switch owners get a new feature.
These updates were first announced last month, with Nintendo stating that a few games, including Echoes of Wisdom and Link’s Awakening, would receive free updates to “improve playability” on the Switch 2. This promise was initially vague, and Zelda Dungeon speculated that these would be minor improvements to compatibility and performance on the Switch 2. Now we know more!

A few other Zelda games also received updates. Tears of the Kingdom received support for the Sidon, Tulin, Yunobo, and Riju amiibo. Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom received updates for Switch owners who use Brazilian Portuguese for their system language. All of these games received Switch 2 support as part of these updates.
Will you find Echoes of Wisdom‘s new favorites filter useful? Do you plan to play any of these updated Zelda titles on Switch 2? Let us know in the comments below!
