Ongaku Overdrive, best known around these parts for the “Power, Wisdom, and Courage: A Tribute to Zelda Concert” event, is coming back once again. For those who don’t know who these folks are, they’re a collection of people who love nerd music and who help deliver concerts dedicated to that genre. This time, it’s their annual event that celebrates all of nerd music, Orlando Overdrive.

ORLANDO OVERDRIVE IV CELEBRATES THE BEST OF ORLANDO’S NERD MUSIC AND INDIE GAME DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITIES

ORLANDO, FL — Orlando Overdrive is a celebration of Orlando’s best video game music, nerdcore, chiptune, and geek rock as well as our thriving independent game development community. The fourth annual Orlando Overdrive will take place at Saturday, June 8th at The Geek Easy in Winter Park, Florida.

The first half of the musical lineup has been announced, featuring:

  • EyeQ, a constantly touring nerdcore emcee and winner of Orlando Weekly’s “Best of Orlando” 2018 award for best hip hop act
  • Jackson Parodi, a thriving member of both the YouTube and Twitch music communities who performs arrangements of video game, anime, and movie music on his trusty accordion
  • Geekapella, an a capella troupe that has played at major southeastern anime and comic cons such as DragonCon, Anime Festival Orlando, MomoCon, Holiday Matsuri, and MegaCon
  • Under Polaris, a rising rock duo that combines video game music, chiptune, and metal for an infectiously fun time

“Orlando Overdrive gives acts who have come through the Orlando nerd music community the chance to have the spotlight they very much deserve,” states Kent Ward, founder of Ongaku Overdrive. “These acts are not only fantastic, but they have gone on to do some really amazing things all over the country, while representing our city.”

The rest of the lineup will be revealed soon and fans will be able to vote on the final two acts. Applications for independent game developers are currently open. The Geek Easy is located at 114 S.
