You gotta love it when two great things come together: peanut butter and jelly, ketchup and mustard, salt and pepper, Zelda and Dynasty Warriors. And sometimes a very unexpected pairing can end up a very pleasant surprise, as bringing together two unlike things somehow just works out in the end.
Mark Kurko has been working on a Banjo-Kazooie /Ocarina of Time mod project for a little over five years now called The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of Time, using the engine of the bird/bear duo’s games. His most recent update to the project has Banjo & Kazooie visiting Hyrule with his version of Death Mountain from Ocarina of Time. Using assets from both of the N64 Banjo-Kazooie titles, this recreation of the Goron’s homeland is impressive. Every little detail, from the inside of Dodongo’s Cavern, to the multiple layered floors of Goron City, to even the familiar Zelda music has been given a Banjo-Kazooie flair.
And this is only a small piece of Kurko’s ambitious project. The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of Time is all about recreating Ocarina of Time in the style of the N64 Banjo-Kazooie games. Aside from Death Mountain, Kurko’s other “Worlds” for this project include Kokiri Forest, Kakariko Village, Lake Hylia, and more.
The modder has also completed several similar Banjo-Kazooie projects, including a mod inspired by The Wind Waker called The Bear Waker, a mod inspired by Majora’s Mask called Gruntilda’s Mask, and a recreation of the Hyrule Temple stage from Super Smash Bros. Melee.
What do you think of this mod? Will you be keeping an eye on Kurko’s The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of Time project? Let us know in the comments below!
