Mas’ Zelda Collection 025 – Skyward Sword Future Shop Steelbook

In this weeks collection video we take a look at the Skyward Sword Future Shop Steelbook. This was a special Canadian only pre-order bonus for Skyward Sword when it released back in November of 2011. The steelbook itself seems like it was nothing more than a gimmick to get extra pre-orders at Future Shop, but then again, isn’t that what most exclusive pre-order bonuses are for? It’s just so simplistic that to me personally, it racks up as one of the weakest pre-order bonuses that comes to mind. Go ahead and make the jump to check out the collection video, as well as my rant as to why this is such an awful item… sorta.

On top of the dullness of this bonus, the actual steelbook was kind of annoying to get. Future Shop was not selling these cases separately, so the only way to get one was to pre-order the game online through their site. While there is nothing wrong with pre-ordering for online websites, the idea of waiting that extra day or two for shipping for such a highly anticipated game would be a complete no-no for me.

Furthermore, Future Shop is a Canadian company and they were not willing to ship the item outside of Canada. So me being from the United States, I wasn’t able to pre-order a copy and instead, I ended up shelling out $25 just to get this steelbook case off ebay. No not the game, just the plain steelbook that people got for free. Of all the items in my Zelda collection, this one stands out as an item that probably wasn’t worth the cost. But hey, I’m a collector, and that’s part of what I do: waste money on things I don’t need.
