In the latest Mas’ Zelda Collection video I take a look at a sweet Nintendo DS Lite Bundle. This bundle includes the special gold Nintendo DS Lite with the Triforce logo, as well as a copy of Phantom Hourglass. The bundle released back on November 23rd, 2007 for the retail price of $149.99. This came out less than two months after Phantom Hourglass hit stores here in the United States.

Releasing bundled handheld consoles with the latest Zelda game has become a re-occurring trend for the Zelda series. Nintendo did this way back on the original Game Boy with Link’s Awakening, although the Game Boy was just a standard Game Boy. In 2004, Nintendo released a special gold Game Boy Advance SP, bundled with The Minish Cap. Most recently, Nintendo released a bundled Ocarina of Time 3D with a special edition Nintendo 3DS. I guess if it worked the first time, why not try it… every time.

I think it’s a sweet item and a lovely addition to my collection. As stated in the video, I’ve never opened it and never plan on it as it would immediately cause a significant reduction in value. Surprisingly you can still find these online today, even in sealed condition. While you won’t find them at the original $149.99 price tag, sealed copies go for $250-$300, or if you are patient enough to wait for an auction, you can get it for a bit cheaper.
