Majora’s Mask has certainly gained a reputation for not only being one of the darkest games in the Zelda series, but also for having a very short development time behind it. While most Zelda games take at least a few years, Majora’s Mask was developed in just a year. Nonetheless, the game has been a huge success due to Nintendo’s ingenuity, commitment, and bravery. Majora’s Mask was a definite risk after the proved success of Ocarina of Time and yet it payed off masterfully.

To detail this quick development, a book titled The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask has been released by Boss Fight Books. As of October 26, 2020, fans can delve into Nintendo’s process and the later fan reception of the 2000 title. The relationship between Majora’s Mask‘s development and what fans derived from the resulting in-game story has been detailed due to extensive research, which includes a “new in-depth interview with Majora’s North American localizer, Jason Leung”.

The book is available for purchase on their website, in paperback for $14.95 USD, as an ebook for $4.95 USD, and a combination of both for $17.95 USD. Their website also includes books of similar content about many other video games, including Shadow of the Colossus, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Red Dead Redemption, to name a few. Author Gabe Durham is the founding editor and publisher of Boss Fight Books and his website can be found here.
