Majora’s Mask 3DS XL Mockup

Majora’s Mask 3DS has been on many 3DS gamers’ wishlists since Ocarina of Time 3D received the full-on 3D remake treatment. The image you see to your left is a fan-made mockup saying “what if?” This is probably the closest thing we’ve seen to an actual Majora’s Mask 3DS image, and it certainly looks authentic even if it isn’t. We do know that Majora’s Mask 3D is within Nintendo’s realm of possibility, though.

IGN recently conducted a poll, asking their readers which game they would like to see Nintendo remake: A Link to the Past or Majora’s Mask, and Majora’s Mask came out on top with A Link to the Past having not come close. Fortunately, Nintendo has heard the fans’ cries and has let us know that they have considered doing a 3DS remake for Majora’s Mask, however Mr. Miyamoto himself has stated that he wants to work on a new title before he makes another remake, which is understandable because we saw two (Ocarina of Time 3D and Four Swords last year.

A new Zelda title is not something fans are leaving out of their minds, I’m actually excited to hear any news about the unannounced Zelda 3DS. However groups like Operation Moonfall and many of their followers have an intent of getting Majora’s Mask out next. Many of us are hoping that either Nintendo starts development or Grezzo follows in their own footsteps with Majora’s Mask 3D.

Going back to the mockup on the right, it stays very true to the interface of Ocarina of Time 3D, something the original Majora’s Mask accomplished as well. You can see it’s not just an edited screenshot of Ocarina of Time 3D, as we can see content only appeared in Majora’s Mask, such as the redesigned Hylian Shield that Link uses, a map of Termina as well as a Deku Mask on the lower screen, the edge of Clock Town and the edge of the mountains. Another thing that I missed the first time but is definitely present is the small silhouette of Majora’s Mask under the ABXY buttons. This is definitely something  very well done and I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw something looking just like this on a poster in a window at GameStop.
