As video games have expanded and grown as a medium, so too has the music of video games flourished in unexpected and exciting ways. For example, the music of the Legend of Zelda series has gained wider and wider cultural attention, a process that might have reached its peak with the Symphony of the Goddesses concert series. Symphony of the Goddesses was a full two-hour orchestra tour that included music from a variety of Zelda titles and an engrossing multimedia experience for fans.

One person who helped contribute to the spectacular Symphony of the Goddesses was Ben Emberley. Emberley is a composer, conductor and arranger who has a self-proclaimed specialty in the Legend of Zelda series. At MAGFest 2020, an event that is also known as the Music and Gaming Festival, Emberley helped assemble an orchestra to perform a symphonic arrangement called “The Creation of Hyrule”. A symphonic poem (a piece of music that tells a story), “Creation of Hyrule” is a piece of Emberley’s own design which contains music from eight different Zelda soundtracks and about 30 different songs. This song even has personal significance for Emberley, who cites it as the piece he showed to the producers of Symphony of the Goddesses, which helped lead him to be contracted to co-write the Skyward Sword Symphonic Piece for the concert series.

Fortunately for fans who want to listen to “Creation of Hyrule”, the song will soon be available for everyone to hear! The MAGFest performance of “Creation of Hyrule” was filmed and will premiere as a live watch party on Youtube on May 23rd at 17:00 Eastern Time (22:00 GB time).
