There is something really special about seeing a live orchestra play. It’s an incredible experience, with dozens of musicians working together to bring their shared musical vision to life.

In this video, The University of California, Los Angeles’s (UCLA) Game Ensemble covers the music heard in Breath of the Wild‘s trailer released during the Nintendo Switch reveal on January 12th 2017. The trailer was one of the most memorable in Nintendo’s history, and it fittingly was the exclamation mark on the Nintendo Switch showcase. And the musical arrangement heard in the trailer is one of the most thrilling pieces of music in the Legend of Zelda series.

The song combines soft, beautiful piano, thunderous horns, and frantic strings to present an incredibly bold and epic piece of music. Interestingly, the music feels very different than much of the ambient music that would be present in the final game, but it still has distinctly Zelda feel, evoking the beautiful sights and sounds of Hyrule.

This Breath of the Wild trailer is my all time favorite trailer and seeing it was probably one of the most emotional experiences I’ve ever had as a Zelda fan. Seeing the trailer’s music brought to life by a live symphony orchestra is a very special treat.
