The Zelda series is known for its incredible boss fights and spectacular final battles. One of the elements that can help make a boss fight feel special is a spectacular musical theme. For example, while Dark Beast Ganon stands out as one of the lackluster final battles in the series, the atmosphere that the music creates is incredible. The fast tempo, wild piano runs, and echoes of Breath of the Wild‘s the main theme help make “Dark Beast Ganon” one of the best final battle themes in the series.

This metal remix of “Dark Beast Ganon” by J-Trigger – VGM Remixes is an exhilarating take on a fantastic battle theme. The piece is an epic guitar showcase; it has some thrilling guitar solos that make the listener want to challenge Ganon all over again. This remix utilizes a variety of instruments including several electric guitars, piano, and a drum set. The song opens with the bass drum kick pedal, which jump-starts the opening of the song. The piano still has some incredible runs throughout the song, though it loses some of the spotlight to the electric guitar.  Overall, I really enjoy how much this piece plays with the tempo of the song, speeding up and slow down at various points throughout the song. These tempo changes makes the song feel very dynamic, despite the song’s five minute runtime.

The frenetic tempo of “Dark Beast Ganon” translates very well to a more guitar-centered genre like metal. Some of the guitar solos from this remix even include some cameos of other Zelda songs if you listen carefully. I would love to see something like this cover of “Dark Beast Ganon” appear in the Super Smash Bros. series or a future Hyrule Warriors game. The remix feels like it would be perfect for a fast paced brawler.
