One of the most spectacular moments in Breath of the Wild is getting your first sight of Rito Village. Carved from an ancient rock, the massive village rises high above the ground, providing the player with beautiful vistas. Climbing up the innumerable wooden stairs to explore the bustling village is a truly wondrous experience. In addition to the visual splendor, the musical theme, a remix  of “Dragon Roost Island,” is a masterpiece. The song perfectly captures feelings of wonder and joy, and both the day and night versions of the song compliment the scenery well.

This piano and vocal remix of “Rito Village” by Michelle Heafy captures an air of wonder and safety that will put the listener at ease. According to Heafy, this cover is a mixture of the day and night versions of the theme, with Heafy explaining that her arrangement includes the “tempo of day and the key/piano/guitar of the night.”

Overall, there are some small uses of back-up guitar, but the piano and vocals are the stars of the arrangement. The vocals are reminiscent of the special version of “Rito Village” that plays when Kass returns to Rito Village and the five sisters play alongside him. This remix starts with a beautiful piano part that has a gentle but mysterious quality to it. The vocals kick in at the 1:15 mark, and they add a lot of energy to the song.

This is one of my favorite remix of “Rito Village”. I think it does a great job of capturing the spirit of the original song while also experimenting with some interesting instrumental arrangements.
