Since 1998, Ocarina of Time‘s soundtrack has been remixed and re-imagined by many fans and composers across the world.  Whether it is the epic “Hero of Time” album or more experimental lofi and synthesized tracks, avid fans have access to innumerable tributes to the N64 classic. Even minor themes have received a large amount of attention from the fan music community.

This mesmerizing remix by Emunator includes elements of “Potion Shop”, “Serenade of Water”, and “Water Temple”. These three themes all connect to liquid / water in some way, and Emunator combines these them in intriguing ways. When discussing his remix, Emunator asserts that the Water Temple theme has always been fascinating due to its “ambient chord progressions and sound design”. The Water Temple theme is one of the most interesting dungeon themes in Ocarina of Time as it seems to loop / repeat itself seamlessly, like a flowing river. The remix even opens with the sound of rushing water.

Overall, this arrangement starts out with the simple chord progressions of “Water Temple” and adds more elements as the remix progresses. It builds a wall of sound by adding vocals, steady percussion, and ambient sounds. The vocals that are reminiscent of  middle eastern music (or even the music from a film like The Prince of Egypt). As more instruments and sounds are added, the song grows in volume, though it never loses its mysterious atmosphere.
