Link’s Awakening is currently the recipient of a surge of attention since its announcement for Nintendo Switch. Hundreds of reflection, interpretation, and speculation articles have appeared across a variety of gaming sites. The game has also seen an uptick in the number of musical covers in a variety of genres.
This Lofi/Chill cover of “Sword Search” by Qumu is an intriguing musical cover. This version captures the spirit of the original song, while also enriching it with new and distinct sounds. The main melody is a supped-up version of its 1993 original, with a chiptune sound. Beyond that, this arrangement includes a variety of new sounds, including some haunting background sounds, synthetic strings, and some heavy synthesizer.
This beautiful cover will satisfying the Link’s Awakening itch that any listener might have. Make sure to listen to the end, as the song builds and changes throughout its four minute run time!
