Listen To This Haunting “Oath To Order” Remix

Much like the “Song of Time”, “Oath To Order” plays a key story role in Majora’s Mask. Link learns this song after completing the Woodfall Temple, where he frees the first of the Four Giants. Ultimately, the ocarina song has only one purpose: to summon the Four Giants to Clock Town before the moon crashes into it. The entire song has a sadness that perfectly fits the dark world of Termina. There is a beauty in the song, but the melody is also full of sadness and grief.
Overall, this beautiful arrangement by Tetsugaku captures the haunting tone of “Oath To Order”. The remix also adds rich layers of sound to what was a fairly simple song in-game. The arrangement opens with a repeating percussion part before launching into a ghostly choral arrangement. The haunting vocals are paired with a quietly-frantic piano part that fits well alongside the dark urgency of the story. Near the end of the song, these three main parts (percussion, vocals, and piano) are joined by a stringed part. The four parts are layered onto each and crescendo into a final climatic moment. After one haunting note that is held out, the sound fades away like a whisper on the wind.
