Have you ever had a hankering for a cultural twist to the Zelda series soundtrack? I’ve heard any number of genre twists on Zelda covers over the years, but I never thought I’d be so taken by a Bollywood-inspired cover of “Gerudo Valley!”

In this impressive rendition by Ro Panuganti, I feel transported to my first play-through of Ocarina of Time. The Indian-inspired cover showcases drums and sitar-like instrumentals that mirror the intricacies of the hazardous desert that Link must traverse. The song does the impossible and breathes new life into an iconic Zelda tune that has been covered hundreds of times, even while the original never grows old.

Ro Panuganti absolutely hits the mark with this cover as well as with other unique covers of songs from games like Xenoblade and even Banjo Kazooie. If you like what you’ve heard here, make sure to follow him on Twitter and Twitch, as well!

What are your thoughts of this “Gerudo Valley” cover compared to others you may have heard? What other cultural remixes of the Zelda series’ music have you enjoyed or found shed new light on a classic? Leave your comments below!
