One of the best things about the Legend of Zelda series is the massive community that has developed around it. In particular, the community that covers and rearranges the music of the series is extremely diverse and ambitious. Many people across the world cover Zelda songs, drawing inspirations from it and using styles as diverse as classical, metal, hip-hop, and many more.

This Celtic cover of “Zelda’s Lullaby” and “Hilda’s Theme” offers two great songs in one video. In this arrangement, Youtuber Tim de Man – Game Music Covers uses a variety of instruments to merge the songs of two iconic princesses together into one smooth, flowing piece. The crossover uses accordion, whistles, guitars, drums, and vocals to create a rich sound. The tin whistle is particularly crucial for creating a peaceful tone during the “Zelda’s Lullaby” section. In contrast, the accordion plays a key role in “Hilda’s Theme”, playing the main melody of the piece.

While “Zelda’s Lullaby” has been around since A Link To The Past was released in 1992, “Hilda’s Theme” did not debut until A Link Between Worlds hit the shelves in 2013. Thematically, it makes sense to cover these songs together, though Tim de Man does something interesting by closing the gap in the tones of the two melodies. In A Link Between Worlds, the tone of “Hilda’s Theme” was much more somber than the version “Zelda’s Lullaby” that appeared in the game, yet this crossover boasts a beautiful contrast nonetheless.
