“The Song of Healing” is one of The Legend of Zelda‘s most popular songs. In our own Musical March Madness bracket, the song was one of eight finalists for “Greatest Zelda Song Ever”. In Majora’s Mask, Link learns the song from the Happy Mask Salesman early in the adventure. The Happy Mask Salesman asserts that the song can “heals evil magic and troubled spirits”.

Depending on the interpretations and instrumentation used in the song, the song can take on different tones and moods. Sometimes the song can be peaceful, sometimes it can be tragic, and sometimes it can feel as if it is full of despair. In this beautiful harp arrangement by Amy Turk, the song’s mood falls somewhere between tragic and peaceful.

The harp cover is very faithful to the original song, which was played with an ocarina and piano in game. The use of a single instrument highlights the song’s simple yet unforgettable melody. It’s a credit to Koji Kondo that the “Song of Healing” and Kondo’s other six note songs remain so iconic.
