Hello, fellow Zelda artists, artisans, creators, and the like! The most wonderful art time of the year is right around the corner — Linktober! You have probably heard us here at Zelda Dungeon mention our friends over at Linktober before, but if you’re unfamiliar with the annual artistic event, here’s a quick rundown.

Linktober is a Zelda-themed art event with a new prompt for every day in the month of October. There are a few different calendars to choose from, and they change on a yearly basis so there are new prompts to try every year. Linktober is celebrating its eighth official year, and I know that everyone in the Zelda community looks forward to a hoard of new art to enjoy.

Do I have to be an artist to participate in Linktober? Absolutely not; create what you can! Writer? Write a poem or short story for the day’s prompt. Cosplayer? Share your best cosplay! Musician? Create an original piece for the day’s prompt. There are so many ways to participate in Linktober; it’s all about challenging yourself, learning, and creativity.

If you need some support or want to share some ideas be sure to join their Discord right here.

Is there any kind of art that Linktober does not showcase? Yes, Linktober has taken an official stance regarding using AI-generated art in Linktober. You can read more about keeping Linktober clean from AI-generated art here.

Now, on to the most exciting part of this post, the calendars! This year we have The Main Calendar, The Quest Calendar (a calendar where artists create and take an original character(s) on a quest through the world of The Legend of Zelda), and finally the returning The Shadow Calendar which features prompts of a more villainous nature (and personally it’s the one I’m most excited for).

I’m excited to participate once again! Do you plan on participating in Linktober this year? What calendar do you plan on taking on? Don’t forget to check out Linktober’s website and Discord for more information on the event. Also, Artists of Legend will be returning to celebrate Linktober! Be sure to use the proper hashtags #Linktober so Linktober will see your art AND #ArtistsofLegend so we will see your art. Good luck, and happy creating!
