Link and Ganondorf Show Off Their Dance Moves in this Bonkers Animation Video

I may be a special breed of internet user, but I absolutely love video content of the strange, surreal, and purposefully bad variety. I don’t appreciate such videos on any scale of quality, but rather on a scale of irony that can only exist on the wacky world of the internet. With that said, I have found a Zelda fan animation that tickles the mysterious part of my brain that appreciates such content, and I couldn’t help but share it with all of you.
“Zelda A lunk between Dance”, a new 3D-animated short by YouTube user MortMort, is a thing of beauty. Set in Ocarina of Time‘s Hyrule Castle Town, this video follows a pink-haired Link as he pays a visit to the Guard House to break some pots and impress a guard with some dance moves. The encounter seems benign at first, but things get serious when Ganondorf arrives to challenge our hero to a high-stakes dance battle.
The animation is satisfyingly silly and endearingly crazy from the very start. Link, always in a T-pose position, clips through the Guard House door and begins rolling around stiffly to break the pots scattered across the floor. The nonsense never lets up from there, as Link’s neck elongates for no reason, Ganondorf emerges from a pot, and every character shows off some flashy dance moves. But all this silliness doesn’t mean the video isn’t technically well-made in the right places. The character models are wonderfully stylized and the dance animations are unquestionably smooth.
MortMort’s creation has me salivating for more. You can check out the animator’s other content right here, including a short animation of Link dancing alongside two guards.
