Recently, a Kickstarter campaign was launched to create a brand new series of orchestrated Zelda fan covers. This project, titled Trio of the Goddesses, will include forty minutes of popular songs from across the length and breadth of the Zelda series. The album will be recorded with live instrumentation by Canadian musical group the Laurence Manning Trio. The Trio is headed up by pianist and composer Laurence Manning and includes the musical talents of violinist Daphnée Sincennes Richard and cellist Lou Dunand-Vincent. As stated in the project’s announcement video, this album is a work of passion and an expression of admiration for one of Nintendo’s most popular gaming franchises.

In the past, the Laurence Manning Trio has provided a variety of video game covers; and we’ve covered many of Manning’s YouTube covers here at Zelda Dungeon. For this project, the group has released a demo video of “Saria’s Song” from Ocarina of Time.

As of the time of this article, twenty-five days remain in the Kickstarter. Listed below are the songs which will be included on the album:

  •  “Title Theme” (The Legend of Zelda)
  •  “Ballad of the Goddess”
  •  “The Great Sea”
  •  “Tal Tal Heights”
  •  “Ballad of the Wind Fish”
  •  “Title Theme” (Ocarina of Time)
  •  “Saria’s Song”
  •  “Song of Healing”
  •  “Hidden Village”
  •  “Midna’s Lament”
  •  “Main Theme” (Breath of the Wild)
  •  “Mipha’s Theme”
  •  “The Dark World”
  •  “Zelda’s Lullaby”

As a bonus, if the campaign exceeds its funding, the Trio has additional stretch goals to add two more songs to the album and much more. Various pledge rewards will be offered to those who support the project, including copies of the album, live concert videos, and more.
