Majora's MaskOne of my favorite things about the holiday season was my chocolate advent calender – not that I knew that it was called that at the time – and even now, as an adult, sometimes I feel the urge to go out and buy one for myself for no other reason than because it’s enjoyable. There is now a Kickstarter project attempting to market themed advent calendars, starting with Majora’s Mask. Hit the jump to see what this fan cooked up!

The project’s creator and owner has requested a total of $7,500 to get this idea off the ground, and that includes everything from supplies and equipment to compensating contributing artists. The calendar is crafted out of a wood base engraved with a depiction of Termina, with hooks to hang tiny mask representations every day until Christmas.

You’ll notice that the Great Bay section of the map shows the orientation of the area in reverse, with Zora’s Domain situated North of the beach rather than South. This is either a fun, artistic anomaly to make space for the compass at the bottom or it is an annoying mistake. Whichever side you stand on, it’s hard to deny that the whole piece is pretty neat, what with being engraved and all.

The tiny discs depicting the masks have been designed specifically for this project, so you probably won’t see anything quite like them anywhere else. If you want to check some out in person, part of the start up money for this enterprise is going toward a booth at Comic Con, so donate if you’d like to see them up close. Another reason to donate is the project plans on expanding, if it does well, into other popular fandoms like Batman, Pokémon and BioShock.

What do you think about this idea, and would you buy one if they became available? Let us know in the comments!
