Ever since Nintendo’s big Wii U information reveal a couple weeks ago, the folks at our sister site GenGAME have been hard at work covering every aspect of what there is to know about Nintendo’s upcoming console. Recently, they have been taking closer looks at all the games available on the launch title Nintendo Land, and it seems that Battle Quest is not the only one that will appeal to Zelda fans. Take the jump to see what they have found!

In their preview of Pikmin Adventure, GenGAME found similarities between the game’s gameplay and that of classic Zelda games, especially A Link to the Past. They elaborate on how the game does not bother with any distinctively elaborate controls and instead opts for a more classic “run up and hit it ’til it dies” sort of approach… much like the early Zelda games.

In addition to its gameplay similarities, GenGAME reports the game also adopts a third-person overhead view that is highly reminiscent of games like the original Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past. While it does have the camera follow the players slightly to give a better view around certain objects, for the most part it keeps its similarities to Zelda classics. Also, judging by screenshots of gameplay, Pikmin Adventure also uses a health system we all know and love: three hearts in the upper-left corner of the screen. If that doesn’t say “Zelda,” I do not know what does.

As a fan of both Pikmin and Zelda, I’m looking forward to playing a game that combines elements of both. I’m certain that Battle Quest won’t be the only Zelda fix I get out of Nintendo Land after reading GenGAME’s thoughts on the game. What do you guys think? Does Pikmin Adventure seem to hold enough Zelda for you to enjoy, or do you think these similarities are too vague to matter? Let us know in the comments!
