Incredible Realistic Zelda Artwork!

SkulltulaI’ve always been more of a fan of the more realistic art styles in Zelda games than the more stylized art styles, because I feel that what is seen should represent the nature of the content. A Zelda fan by the name of Nate Hallinan has recently released some incredibly realistic interpretations of Link’s rocky allies and eight-legged enemies that do an amazing job of representing each subject! Skulltula

My personal favorite is Hallinan’s interpretation of a Skulltula. I love the way that it captures both the fear of spiders and of the sight of human remains, and the way the Skulltula has made a shell of the skull, much like the habit of a hermit crab, gives the image an almost body-horror vibe. Possibly the scariest thing about it, though, is that it could be a very real occurrence if female golden silk orb-weaver spiders got into the habit of webbing human skulls onto their abdomens. As for the Goron, I really like the way that Hallinan displays the rough exterior and soft interior of the Goron through the manipulation of the facial expression.

Hallinan is also currently working on producing his vision of a Deku Scrub, which, judging from the concept art (which can be viewed by following the source link below), promises to be quite intriguing. I would also be interested to see what the artist might make of a Zora or Moldorm, but they’ve given no confirmation as to whether they will do those projects. What do you guys think? Do you like these interpretations? Is the realistic Skulltula too scary to continue looking at? Can you see the Goron’s kind nature behind its intimidating form? Let us know in the comments!
