The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is a timeless classic and a staple of the Zelda series, and one of my personal favourites. The game was released on the Game Boy, and then re-released as a Game Boy Colour game under the vise of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX. But has it been overlooked over the years? Could it quite possibly, and quite secretly, be the best Zelda game of them all? IGN discusses that in the video above!

The people behind the show History of Awesome at IGN have recently taken stage and discussed whether or not Link’s Awakening could secretly be the best Zelda game. Describing it with words like “technologically impressive”, and describing it as “perhaps the best Game Boy game”, you can tell that they really do appreciate the game. They express that the game has a sort of wackiness in that it contains crossovers from other Nintendo games such as Chain Chomps, references to Mario, Kirby, and even a certain Yoshi.

While the game might be a little wacky, the creators of the game take that wackiness and they turn it into something amazing. Where other developers might be scared to take objects from other games and put it into their already successful game series, Nintendo does it seamlessly with this game and it just adds to the charm of it. Link’s Awakening could very well be the greatest Zelda game of all time, but for now at least we know that some believe it to be the great Game Boy game of all time.
