Most of you are probably already familiar with Famitsu, the most notable gaming magazine in Japan. Every week they do a survey of the most wanted games among its readers, and the results of this week are somewhat surprising: Hyrule Warriors, despite the few information we have on the title, has managed to climb up to position number nine with 236 votes, which is quite impressive at this early stage of development.
Mario Kart 8 made it to the second place with 549 votes, so betting it will be a system seller wouldn’t be a bold prediction at all. Super Smash Bros., on the other hand, has not done as well as one would think—the Wii U edition is at the 13th position with 184 votes, whereas the 3DS did even worse, at the 20th position with 166 votes. Games by 3rd party companies on Nintendo systems include Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth (7th position, 244 votes), Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (11th position, 215 votes), New Love Plus+ (14th position, 183 votes), Game Center CX 3-Chome no Arino (15th position, 175 votes), Harvest Moon: Tsunagaru Shin Tenchi (22nd position, 146 votes), Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson (25th position, 135 votes), and Bravely Second (26th position, 127 votes). That’s 10 games on a top 30, meaning that a third of all games people are looking forward to are being developed for Nintendo.
What do you think these news mean? Will Hyrule Warriors become more and more popular as time goes on, or will the hype die? And could these figures foretell the beginning of Nintendo’s financial recovery?
