It seems Koei Tecmo found a winning formula when they brought Musou-style action to the world of Breath of the Wild. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has maintained strong sales since its release in November 2020, having become the highest selling Warriors title after less than a week on the market and shipping over 3.7 million units in its first six months. And with the release of the game’s Expansion Pass this past year, Age of Calamity‘s sales dominance has further endured.

Koei Tecmo has announced, via press release, that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has now shipped over 4 million units worldwide.

Age of Calamity‘s Expansion Pass — made up of two waves of DLC released in June and October of last year, respectfully — no doubt helped the game reach this impressive milestone after more than a year on the market. And the game’s relation to Breath of the Wild, the highest selling Zelda game of all time, surely didn’t hurt either. All in all, the partnership between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo has proven to be a fruitful one.
