Chris Slate, the former Editor-In-Chief of Nintendo Power hosts a brand new episode of his podcast, and it is all devoted to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity! Chris is joined by Chiko from Nintendo Treehouse and Joe Bustos from the Nintendo of America social team. The podcast aims to share their impressions of the game after beating it, without revealing any big spoilers.

Chris refers to how the different mechanics from Breath of the Wild such as shield surfing have been incorporated into the combat system of the game. He talks about how the power of the four Runes helps Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity to really feel that they are tied to same universe.

Chiko gives fans an overview of how Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is different from a traditional Zelda game that players may be used to. She refers to the number of cutscenes in Breath of the Wild and that they were quite limited. In Age of Calamity, she believes that there are more cutscenes that give more interesting insights into the characters. This in turn made her want to play more so she could learn more about the characters.

Joe felt a great sense of nostalgia, and that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was like a “homecoming” from playing Breath of the Wild back in 2017. He suggests there is a good mix of the familiar and the new here, and that fans will appreciate the banter between the Champions and some very important guests!

In the Nintendo Power Game Club segment, the podcast throws back to Breath of the Wild and shares the results of the Legend of Zelda series fan polls. There is  a quiz in the Warp Zone and the trio also pick their most anticipated upcoming games for Switch.
