The Link to the Past section of the recently-released Hyrule Historia shows off dozens of neat little features. One piece of concept art depicts Princess Zelda wearing two different futuristic gowns. As you can see, the drawing of her on the right looks like it was taken straight out of Star Fox, while the sketch on the left looks much more Zeldarian, albeit set in the distant future.

These designs obviously never made it to the final game, but is it possible that Nintendo originally intended for A Link to the Past to take place in the distant future? We know that the original Legend of Zelda was supposed to feature two very different time periods, so is it possible that that concept was revisited during the planning stages of A Link to the Past?
