Hyrule and Koholint Island Recreated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Posted on April 03 2020 by John Piland
Through the new power of terraforming, the mythical lands of Hyrule and Koholint Island have come to life in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as two players reform their islands to match these classic maps.
Reddit user VaynMaanen modeled their town after Hyrule from A Link to the Past. Following “four grueling days of terraforming,” the resemblance is strong. From Kakariko Village to Death Mountain, the creator has detailed their island with iconic landmarks from the SNES classic. What’s more, VaynMaanen noted construction on the island continues. Check out more screenshots of their island here.
Meanwhile, reddit user fatblackmagic created the mysterious Koholint Island from Link’s Awakening after “five days straight” of work. Also included, an island tune, available in this island gallery. The creator says they tried to create the island tile-for-tile with Koholint’s map, though they were unable to due to some tile counts not matching up and personal preferences. They’re also waiting for more items to become available and for access to white lilies to plant across the island. Still, it’s hard not to be impressed by their work, especially with the various patterns placed throughout the island
What do you think of these recreations? Have they inspired you to play Din and form your island into something from Zelda? Let us know in the comments below!

John has been a Zelda fan for over 10 years now and is proud to say the series has had a major impact on his life (and wallet). After years of going to Zelda Dungeon for guides or the latest news on the series, John achieved their dream when they joined the writing team in 2019; John can hardly believe how long it’s been. A librarian, he loves meticulously arranging his library of Zelda games and collectibles. After what felt like an eternity of waiting for Tears of the Kingdom, John looks forward to the future of the Zelda franchise with enthusiasm, whether that’s the upcoming movie, a new spin-off/remake, or the next big game.
