For those unaware, there exists a glitch in Hyrule Warriors that will instantly reward you with the maximum amount of rupees that can be held at any one time. This is a very interesting glitch that many players want to take advantage of, because, as you may or may not be aware, you can level up all your characters to the max level of your highest level character simply by paying rupees. This can get extremely expensive, especially as they have been consistently releasing new characters along the way. With a level cap of 250, being able to max out your rupees would be a huge help in maxing out all of your characters.

However, the glitch itself has been a bit of mystery for some time, seemingly happening at random without any explanation. Thanks to some fine research by folks over at GameFAQs, which was compiled by a user on reddit, we now have a handful of confirmed methods under which you can trigger this glitch – though none of them are 100% full proof. This means they won’t work every single time, and one of the methods actually works through sheer dumb luck. Still, if you have grown tired of grinding out levels or rupees, this is certainly a glitch that might interest you. Here is the current research results. First, we’ll start with some general rules heading in:

  • We initially thought that the glitch only worked by defeating Gohma, but as it turns out, it applies to other Giant Bosses. There’s been a few reported cases of the glitch working against King Dodongo and Argorok.
  • For all recorded cases so far, Gohma / King Dodongo / Argorok were not defeated with a Weak Point Smash. The Weak Point Gauge may be active, but the final killing blow should not activate the Weak Point Smash animation. However, one user mentioned that the glitch activated for them after a Weak Point Smash.
  • You should use a weapon with Rupees+ on it.
  • Weapon’s rank or stars do not matter.
  • The playable character does not matter. The character’s level does not matter. It’s not necessary, but it’s helpful to have full Stamina Fruit Badges, so you can reduce the Weak Point Gauge efficiently.
  • This glitch works for both American and European versions of the game. This glitch works for both hard copies and digital copies.
  • The glitch can activate on the first attempt of the mission. But if it doesn’t, the glitch can still activate on subsequent runthroughs if you use the “Restart Mission” feature.
  • Lana’s Summoning Gate is the easiest way to siege a Giant Boss, a.k.a. defeating a Giant Boss while the halo of light is surrounding it.

These are the basic instructions for sieging a Giant Boss with Lana’s Summoning Gate as shown in the 1st and 2nd videos. You do not need to do it in such a specific manner, the most important aspect is defeating the Giant Boss without using a Weak Point Gauge Smash. However, this method is very effective for sieging Giant Bosses.

  1. The Giant Boss will use a move that allows you to reveal its Weak Point.
  2. Use the appropriate secondary weapon (Arrows / Bombs / Hookshot).
  3. Use C3.
  4. C3 is the Manhandla attack. When the Manhandla starts dropping seeds, dash-cancel out of the animation.
  5. Use C1.
  6. Immediately dash-cancel away from the Giant Boss. There should be a very obvious light ring, or halo, surrounding the Giant Boss.
  7. Do not enter the halo as this will activate a Weak Point Smash.
  8. Spam C1 several times.
  9. If you summon Argorok, activate C5.
  10. Defeat the Giant Boss.

Here’s instructions for the alternate method as shown in the 3rd video, 4th video, and the gif. It’s a bit more luck-based but much quicker if you perform it successfully.

  1. Spam C1 until you get Argorok.
  2. The Giant Boss will use a move that allows you to reveal its Weak Point.
  3. Use the appropriate secondary weapon (Arrows / Bombs / Hookshot).
  4. Activate C5.
  5. Defeat the Giant Boss.

Interesting stuff.
