Earlier today we posted a rather lengthy, mostly comedic, interview with the Happy Mask Salesman, who was most likely represented by a developer at Nintendo. No matter how you slice it, it was an official Nintendo interview, meaning what was said holds some value depending on what was being responded to. In this case, Happy Mask Salesman stated that he may be returning in a future Zelda title, all but suggesting that this is going to occur. Of course, this could mean nothing – just that Happy Mask Saleman’s journey through Hyrule and other various lands might not be complete.

It could also mean that he’s about to make an appearance in Zelda U, with some brand new masks coming with him – something he himself confirmed to have found. Here is what he had to say:

“My, my… I’ve certainly been appearing all over these past few days! If this keeps going, maybe it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect me to pop up in a new Zelda game too…? Ho, ho, ho… I’ve got some new masks too, if you’d like to try them on… if I do make an appearance, I’m sure everyone will experience such happiness! Believe in your strengths… Believe… Ho, ho, ho… “

Of course fans love to speculate, so you could say that since he was talking about his journey through Termina that if he is in the next game, this would have to take place after Majora’s Mask. Then again, that doesn’t necessarily hold weight, since he isn’t referencing a timeline throughout any of his interview, meaning he very well could be talking about a future title in the past tense. It’s crazy times we live in, as we continue to read between the lines and dig up any potential information on the next game that we can.

This could also be a tease for Happy Mask Salesman to appear in Hyrule Warriors as future DLC, featuring old masks and maybe some new ones. Honestly, we have no idea. Your guess is as good as ours!
